About This Work
Floridita immortalizes one of Havana's most legendary addresses — the bar and restaurant where Ernest Hemingway famously held court, nursing daiquiris and writing prose that would outlast empires. The iconic neon sign glows warmly against the sepia streetscape.
A vintage American automobile anchors the foreground, bicycles and pedestrians populate the middle distance, and the ornate arch of a neighboring building frames the composition on the right. Every architectural detail — from the Floridita signage to the colonial ironwork — is painted with loving precision.
This work is a love letter to a Havana that exists in memory as much as in reality — a city of glamour, literature, and music that captured the imagination of the world. Floridita preserves that mythology in paint.
